Characteristic of the New Variety of Grapes “Vostani”

The description of the variety of vines at the age of 5 in Yerevan. The sprout is green, 18-20 cm, with the signs of light-green, almost yellow and white. The leaves are yellow and green, changing into dark-green. In early stage they are very bright and later free of lustre. The axis is of the round shape; at the basis and in knots it is green, from the sun side – it has wine-red stripes. Blossoming is of the medium-size, stretching to the top, the shape is cylindrical or and cone one, the top is yellow and green with red spots.
The spout is light-brown, the knots are darkened. The leaf is medium sized; the top branch is round, almost integrated.

Lamina is dark green or green-yellow with media brightness, smooth; in areas of vein outcome it is wrinkled and meshed. The lamina cut is closed, almost integrated by small cracking field or without it, sometimes – by narrow ellipse field joining to each other by branches. The side teeth are very small, have the shape of small saw, one-sided convex, being covered by yellow edgle.

The leaf stem is short is in comparison with vein it is shorter, yellow and green, from the sun side the wine-red color is expected well, it is thin, naked. The blossom is doubled-hollowed; the number of stamens is 5-6, very often 5. The thread of the stamen longer than pistil for ¼. The pole is short, of the shape of jug. The bunch is large, average length is 20 cm the width 1,5-2 cm, cylinder is ramified in the og the jug shape. The length of the bunch stem is 3,5-4 cm, at the basis it is hardened. The fruit-stem is 6-8 mm, the pad is of the shape of disk, the color is brown and green.

The fruit is coarse-grained, the length is 2, 3-2,5 cm, the width is 1,5-2 cm. It is of the egg shape, yellow. During full ripening it is light amber. The fruit is covered by thin layer of wax, the juice is colorless. The peel is hard, the pulp is fat and juicy, moderately sweet. There are mainly 1-2 sometimes 3 brown stones in it with average size.

Agro biological Characteristics: “Vostani” variety refers to the late-ripening grapes. Starting from buds the full ripening of the grapes is 155-160 days. It blossoms at the end of May and in early June.

Fruits-bearing begins in early August and ripening is lasted till the 1-st decade of October. Vegetable is higher, at the end of vegetation the sprouts ripen up to 85-90%. Fruit-bearing sprouts are 60-65%. The number of bunches is 1,6 at each sprout, coefficient of fertilization is 0,6-0,7. Average weight of the bunch is 280-300 g.

Productivity is higher. When using normal agrotechnicks it is possible to get approximately 240-250 centners from 1 ha. The fruits are moderately sweet and sour. In early October saccharin is reached to 20-25% and acidity to 4,5-5%.

The variety “Vostani” is characterized by nice bunches, medium coarse – grained fruits, pleasant taste.
