"MAGNESIUM. FREQUENT BUT DIFFICULT TO OVERRIDE. WHAT WE HAVE SUCCEEDED AND WHAT HAVE TO DO TO GO FORWARD. "

I. Situation and task
I represent the Republic of Armenia, particularly Armenia Technological Academy (ATA) NGO. Nearly 100 scientists, technologists, and researchers are gathered in the organisation and try to push forward new ideas. There are foreign members and our outstanding members are now employed and applied in other countries as well.
Many interesting concepts, prototypеs and technologies are available. You can see the brochure that was specially prepared for this conference.Today I will briefly present only one of many technologies of ATA-member Hayk Vardapetyan. The territory of the Republic of Armenia and our planet in general is rich in magnesium raw material. It mostly comes in the form of silicon compounds, whose mineralogical name is dunite. We succeeded in detaching magnesium, silitsiume and other chemical elements contained in the ore with pretty great purity (no less than 97-99 percent) by hydrometallurgical technology method. Most of detachable elements are destroyed by the acid environment into the salts. Тhe technological know-how of this part is wasteless product –quantity of raw material’s we give at the beginning of technology, the same quantity detached chemical elements we get at the end of technology. And during the technology acids, involved in the reaction, in the closed cycle circulate into the aggregate condition, making phase changes. Actually it turns out that the molecular strong link between magnesium and silicon is succeded to detach with acids giving higher energy - "High energy breaking. HEB"

II. What has been done at the point

In addition to the above-mentioned technological know-how we have the following. By direct method we managed to get metal magnesium on the pool cathode through electrodialyzer from aqueous solution of magnesium chloride: “Magnezium recovery direct method MRDM”. It is unprecedented because classicaly they receive it through electrolysing carefully dehydrated chloride molten solution (700 Celsius), which usually requires a large lump sum of capital expenditure and operating great costs and risks. Now it’s succeded to receive via membrane method and only before the boiling temperature of water. It is unprecedented cheap technology.

III. What have to do to go forward

There are many areas of the use of magnesium. energy, health, agriculture fertilizer, metallurgy and so on.
In the energy we recommend to use magnesium in two main directions:
First - receipt and storage of hydrogen via extruding hydrogen from water in non-stationary conditions. This means that with no significant change the liquid fuel cars can be turn in a such position which will enable them instead of liquid fuel to use water and metal magnesium (ampoule or capsule), using the same fuel tank. Moreover, the reaction products, generated during the operation, restore with above-mentioned MRDM technology, in the same "magnesium filling station".

Second. High density (230-250 watt / kg) magesium air power source, "suitcase - Cartridge". During 10 minutes will be possible mechanically replace magnesium anode (magnesium cartridge) with a new one and continue the automobile journey. Moreover, the reaction products, generated during the operation, restore with above-mentioned MRDM technology, in the same "magnesium filling station". The latter is the usual dialyzer that is portable, does not require a capital expenses and only requires 20 sq. m area .

In a small country like Armenia all this may generate "magnesium valley", as there are silicon, titanium and silicium valleys in other countries.

We are ready to discuss the investment proposals to commerce the technology.
