The elaboration refers to the new method of the charge preparation for ferromolybdenum melting. The usual charge includes technical trioxide of molybdenum cinder obtained during the burning of molybdenum concentrates. Common technical trioxide is characterized by higher content of harmful impurities – sulphur and non-ferrous metals. While using usual burnt molybdenum concentrates for ferromolybdenum melting the last has a low graded as there is an exceeding content of sulphur and non-ferrous metals in it.
A new technology is proposed for hydrometallurgical refining of molybdenum cinder to reduce the content of harmful impurities. The last one is treated by acid solution (nitric or chlorhydric) during heating and intensive and rolling the washed cinder has a high degree of purity and is used as original raw material for melting of high-quality ferromolybdenum.
The technology allows us to obtain the cinder with coarseness of 0, 05 mm providing the reduction of aluminum powder and heat losses. Labor-intensive process is eliminated for grinning of the initial.
Ferromolybdenum being melted from washed cinder (M0O3) is used for obtaining of high-quality steel.
The technology was tested on commercialize basis at Chelyabinsk electrometallurgical plant and was recommended for production.
