Armenian Republic is rich in resources of colored minerals in accordance of which natural pigments have been obtained.
Important colors are violet, dark red, lilac, brown, red, lemon, ochre, green and their tints.
They are characterized by cheapness, simplicity in comparison with artificial (synthetic) pigments, by wide range of colors of the painting compounds, high color fastness, compliance with known adhesions, fire-and explosion-proof; non-cancerageneous, non-toxically, non-radioactivity, low content of heavy metals, sanitary demands.
The main fields of use – quality decoration of external (facade) and internal surfaces of buildings and constructions, decorative paints, leather dressing, colored fillers of plasters, compound materials, restoration of architectural monuments, wall painting and so on.
Positive conclusion and recommendations on 24 natural pigments, including decorative paints were given after the performance of different tests in St. Petersburg and Moscow. Favorable response has also been gotten from England and Germany.
There is also a positive experience of using natural pigments together with the decorative paints in Armenia.
