Application of the Instrument – measuring and repair works for high – voltage power lines.
At present existing analogous instruments (megohometers) have mechanic rotating parts which cause much inconvenience during measuring works. Besides, they develop the voltage being equal to 2500 V. It is not impossible to find out defects on lines which occur under the highest voltage.
Approximately 10000V is developed on the prods by compact nickel-cadmium battery of the new instrument. Having enough electric capacity insulation resistance of the cables of any length can be measured within 20-40 sec and defects are revealed which is impossible by usual megohometers.
The instrument includes compact charging unit by means of which batteries can be charged within a few hours. They are continuously operated during 4 hours. The works can be performed even at the temperatures below 400 C; in this case the time of sustained operation is reduced.
By this instrument air resistance can measure and the leakage is estimated for humid weather.
As we have 10000V on instrument terminals the working capacity of industrial INV can be easily controlled.
It is possible to change the voltage on terminals, because maximum assumed voltage of cables maybe less 10000V.
Besides electric works the capacity of the car sparks plugs can be measured by this instrument.
